This is how this story began. I pasted in an image and started writing the story. My students then selected a new colour and continued the story. When it was finished we were so happy with it I published it to Tikatok for them. I have added Tikatok as a great Web 2.0 tool for you to use. The red door had not been there in the morning when he walked past the deserted factory. Adam noticed it on his way home from Sam's house. It was a sunny Saturday in Autumn and Adam was in a terrific mood. He had made some new friends and was really enjoying spending his spare time at the skate-park and playing X-Box Guitar Hero with them. Sam had just bought 'World Tour' with drum kits and microphones and the three boys had spent the morning singing and laughing. Adam had been very lonely since moving to Barty Creek a few months ago with his family. He was used to the city and found it really hard to settle into the small country town.
He just couldn't work out how the door got there. No-one had used that old factory for years and years. The door was shiny and new, and it seemed to shimmer when he looked at it. As he stood there thinking the door creaked open a little bit and a warm golden light spilled out. He stared in fascination at it and couldn't resist the urge to take a peek inside. Carefully, and ever so slowly, he pushed the door and gazed in wonder ata whole new world of adventure. All of a sudden Adam felt himself flying threw a sign which read “Awesome Adventure Land.” Before he knew it Adam was now in board shorts and standing in amazement at the top of a water slide which had a one meter drop in the middle of it before flattening the finish. The name above the Waterslide read SMASHDOWN. Adam stood hesitantly at the start of the slide when the Red Door whispered to him “Don’t be afraid, go for the adventure I know you can do it.” With these words echoing in his head Adam didn’t feel afraid anymore he felt the Red door had given him encouragement and confidence he needed to overcome his fears. As he came to the finish he wondered where his new best friend the Red Door would take him in next in this Adventure World. Adam stood still, grab the Red Door’s handle, turned it and sawa gold chimny that was shoting out pieces of gold. A voice whispered touch it touch it Adam stepped up to the chimny and he touched it, and you'll never guess what happened... his hand started to tingle and his arm felt very strange, then all of a sudden his fingers shot out lightning bolts then he heard a voice saying "you have super powers"! wow!! he thought. He sat there for a while and thought to himself what can I do with these powers, maybe I could change into anything I like.So he concentrated hard and he tried to turn into a guinea pig. It worked!! He was a small, fluffy, yellow guinea pig. He really liked being a guinea pig and stayed like that for the rest of the day and as a guinea pig he did lots of things like go into shops and eat carrots with nobody noticing but he ate too much and got so chubby he started to fly. Once he was in the air he concentrated hard again and turned himself into a huge pterodactyl. Nobody had ever seen one of these flying reptiles except in books and museums so he created absolute bedlam in Barty Creek and the towns around it. He kept on flying all over town. He got distracted by a pigeon flying past him and fell into the creek that got the town its name. It was more like a white water rapid than a creek. He was carried by the fast river for ages and then fell down a huge, gushing water fall. His wings were floppy and wet when he lumbered out of the river. Now that he was relaxed, he realized that he was in the middle of a forest and was completely lost. He turned back into a human. Eagles squawked in the blue sky above him. He may have been lost, but he was in pure paradise! He found an apple tree next to the lake that the waterfall splashed into. He picked an apple to eat. He was starving. As his teeth sunk into the fresh apple he heard a crunch of leaves in the distance of the vast forest. He saw giant teeth, powerful crushing jaws, slashing claws and strong legs staring him right in the face. It was a dinosaur. He turned into a cheetah and ran through the forest away from the giant monstrous creature. He then found himself in a huge field staring at the high peaks of the most magnificent mountain ranges he had ever seen! The dinosaur came running again. He ran towards the mountains. The dinosaur spotted a deer in the far distance and started to run after that instead. Adam gazed at the wonderful landscape of the mountains, forest, river, and field that surrounded him. He thought to himself, maybe I could live here. But then he remembered about home. He needed to get back there. There was only one thing bothering him though. Which way was home? He thought he should go back to the river and follow it home. So he walked back through the forest. He tripped over a rock and face planted himself right into a great discovery. He landed right in front of a nest of gold eggs then the gold eggs exploded of gold coins everywhere.Then he saw a nearby town. So he picked up as many coins as he could and started walking to the town. When he got there Adam saw a petrol station. He went inside and asked the man behind the counter what his name was. The man replied "Hi, I'm Andrew, what do you want?" he asked. "Hi, I'm Adam, could you please tell me the way to Barty Creek?". " Sure, mate but I will take you there instead". So they both got in Andrew's car and drove to Barty Creek. Adam was really happy to be home. He realised that while he had been on his adventures in the red door no time had passed. "What an awesome discovery" he thought. Adam couldn't wait to take Sam and David with him next time he opened the red door. He could only imagine the adventures they would have together.
